GRAS is a worldwide leader in the sound and vibration industry. It develops and manufacture state-of-the-art measurement microphones and related equipment to industries where acoustic measuring accuracy and repeatability is of utmost importance. This includes applications and solutions for customers within the fields of aerospace, automotive, audiology, consumer electronics, and other highly demanding industries.
GRAS is part of Axiometrix Solutions, a test leading solutions provider comprised of globally-recognized measurement brands.
Aeroacoustics is a branch of acoustics that studies noise generation via either turbulent fluid motion or aerodynamic forces interacting with surfaces. Aeroacoustics is important in the design of aircraft, vehicles, wind turbines, and even buildings and bridges to minimize vibrations and noise.
There are two sources of noise, which are important when talking about aeroacoustics—external noise and aerodynamic noise (or pseudo-noise).
Aeroacoustics is also related to efficiency. Aerodynamics and aeroacoustics are related in that if there is no (or minimal) acoustic noise, there is less turbulence, which is an indication of the aerodynamic efficiency. This relationship is reciprocal.
Dassault Systèmes, the 3DEXPERIENCE® Company, is a catalyst for human progress. Operating in three sectors – Life Sciences & Healthcare, Infrastructure & Cities, and Manufacturing Industries – we provide businesses and people with collaborative 3D virtual universes to imagine sustainable innovations.
A pioneer in computer-aided design founded in 1981, Dassault Systèmes has expanded into a diverse range of software categories, including 3D modeling, simulation, information intelligence, and social and collaborative processes. Global icon of Italian style, with offices in Italy, the United States, China and Germany, Pininfarina is recognized for its unparalleled ability to create timeless beauty through its values of elegance, purity, and innovation. Founded in 1930, Pininfarina has evolved from an artisan concern to an international service Group, synonym of automotive styling and an established reality in architecture and product design, nautical and mobility beyond automotive. In 1972, Pininfarina became a leader in aerodynamic and aeroacoustic research with the inauguration of its Wind Tunnel in Grugliasco, near Turin. It was Italy’s first wind tunnel to be built for testing full-scale cars, at the time one of only seven in the world. Still today Pininfarina is the only design company to own one. The Wind Tunnel has always been a cutting-edge strategic tool for OEMs in the automotive sector. The Wind Tunnel has also proved to be a powerful tool for testing and developing products across all sectors in which Pininfarina is fully committed. Examples include aircrafts, high-speed trains, yachts, buildings, wind engineering, industrial design and sporting goods. The Pininfarina Wind Tunnel’s testing capabilities are being constantly improved thanks to the development of innovative measurement techniques in both the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic fields.
